Artist Recruitment
OPEN NOW
Dec. 2024 - Jan. 2025

Love animals? Love doodling, sketching, or drawing (no experience required)? It’s time to put your creative skills to work for shelter animals in need!

The Awkward Pet Portrait Fundraiser for the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter is looking for volunteer “artists” of all ages and skill levels to create delightfully offbeat portraits of pets.

Perfect? Definitely not. Hilarious? Absolutely.

Currently Recruiting “Artists”: December 2024 - January 2025

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS AN “ARTIST”
Be matched with a pet (or shelter pet) and receive their photo and bio.

  • Create a quirky, hand-drawn (or macaroni masterpiece) portrait of your matched pet.

  • Submit a digital copy of your masterpiece by the deadline.

  • Groups are welcome and encouraged!

Important Dates

Artist sign-up: December 2024 – January 2025.
Artists will receive photos of donors' pets starting January 5 - February 16.  Sign up to draw as many pets as you like! All awkward art should be completed by February 23.

FUNDRAISING for the animals

The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation receives a $35 (or more!) donation for every portrait drawn. Take ten minutes to sketch a snuggle buddy and help save the lives of pets still in need of homes.
